Laser Hair Removal
Cutera Cool Glide Laser Hair Removal
Most adults have unwanted hair somewhere on their body. Common hair removal routines can be tedious, uncomfortable and expensive over time. Shaving may last a day, waxing a couple of weeks, but all of these must be repeated frequently, and therein lies the true beauty of laser hair removal.
About Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can remove unwanted hair from almost anywhere on your body. After treatment, you’ll spend little or no time shaving, waxing or tweezing. Ingrown hairs disappear and your skin becomes soft and smooth.
With modern lasers, the treatment is safe and effective for most people, regardless of their hair or skin color. That being said, treatment will be more effective in candidates with darker hair and a lighter skin complexion. Patients with lighter hair or a darker complexion are more difficult to treat, but can usually still achieve desired results. If you have extremely light or white hair, you may not be a good candidate for laser hair removal. Find out if laser hair removal is right for you by contacting us today.
Benefits of the Cutera Cool Glide
The Cutera Cool Glide is a modern laser system that can remove unwanted hair with ease.
- It can treat all skin types, including tanned skin in the summer.
- Our technician can easily control and tailor the laser parameters.
- Copper cooling provides optimal skin protection and comfort.
- A large spot size means fast treatment speed and optimal penetration at all hair follicle depths.
Prior to your session, the target area will be shaved or trimmed. In many cases, we may also apply a numbing cream or an icepack for 5 to 10 minutes to ensure your comfort during treatment. Both you and your practitioner will need to wear safety glasses designed to filter out harmful light during your session.
Using a handheld device, we deliver concentrated laser beams to your skin. The sensation is often compared to the feeling of being snapped with a rubber band. The light will penetrate through the surface of your skin and be absorbed by the pigment in your hair follicles. Laser hair removal is generally a quick outpatient procedure, but the actual duration will depend on size of the treatment area.

After Your Laser Hair Removal
Although most patients are able to return to normal activities right away, it’s common to experience some stinging, skin redness or swelling in the treatment area. Ice, aloe or anti-inflammatory creams may be recommended to minimize these temporary side effects.
In the days and weeks following your procedure, the treated hair follicles will gradually begin to fall out. Because hair grows in cycles, not all will be active during your initial treatment session. This means that multiple sessions (typically 3 to 6) will be needed to target dormant hairs as they re-enter the growth cycle. Most patients benefit from an 80 to 90 percent reduction in hair growth. Future touch-ups may be necessary to maintain results.
As with all cosmetic procedures, there are risks associated with laser hair removal. Most patients do not experience any skin damage, but it is possible that you will experience some temporary redness or follicular edema (similar to goosebumps). Other risks include skin irritation or temporary changes in skin pigmentation.
