Houston, Spring & The Woodlands Hair Transplantation
Hair Transplantation Technique
Hair transplantation can benefit both men and women who are struggling with hair loss. Dr. Cho and Dr Chiang’s modern technique removes tiny punch grafts of hair and relocates them to the new site.
In addition to hair loss treatment, the procedure can provide eyebrow replacement or help you regrow hair over scarred tissue.
Dr. Cho and Dr. Chaing use NeoGraft, a new device that facilitates the harvesting of follicles during Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplantation, dramatically improving the accuracy and speed over previously used manual extraction instruments.
You may be a candidate for hair transplantation if you:
- Are experiencing hair loss
- Require eyebrow replacement after trauma
- Have a scar that has affected hair growth
As each hair transplantation is unique, a thorough consultation is necessary. Dr. Cho will discuss your goals for hair replacement and determine if the surgery is right for you.

How Follicular Unit Extraction Works
Follicular unit extraction takes hair from the back and/or sides of the head, where hair is more resistant to DHT and balding, and transplants the hair to areas where more hair is needed. Once transplanted, the follicles will naturally continue to grow.
What is the Difference between Follicular Unit Extraction and Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation?
FUE involves removing individual units directly from the donor area and transplanting them to the thinning areas. FUT removes a strip of hair, and the resulting wound is sutured back together. The strip of hair is then cut into pieces and transplanted into the thinning area.
Strip harvesting produces a linear scar, which can be a significant concern for patients who wish to wear their hair very short. Most patients who undergo strip harvesting have minimal scars that are easily concealed by the hair above the scar. But a small percentage of patients receive a larger, more noticeable scar.
If you ever desire to have short hair, or are worried about a visible scar, then Follicular Unit Extraction is the right choice for you.
Are Hair Transplant Results Permanent?
In most cases, the results of hair replacement will be permanent. As you age, there is the chance that you will lose a small percentage of these hairs during the aging process. Some patients require surgical maintenance procedures every few years to ensure long lasting results.
What to Expect After Your Procedure
A few days of healing time may be necessary after each procedure. Discomfort is managed with medication. Minor swelling, bruising and numbness can occur in the donor area and the treated area. In some cases, hair transplants will fall out after several weeks, but they are eventually replaced with new hair growth.
Are there any risks associated with hair replacement?
Complications are rare, but as with any surgical procedure, there are risks to consider. Before your surgery, Dr. Cho and his staff will discuss these risks with you in depth.
