Lip Augmentation

Houston, Spring & The Woodlands Lip Augmentation Surgery

Plastic surgeons perform lip augmentation for patients who desire more large, voluminous lips. By inserting an implant or injectable filler within the lips, your surgeon can not only enlarge the lips, but reshape and rejuvenate them as well.

About Lip Augmentation

Many women would like to have pouty, well-defined lips, but most do not have them naturally. Some women have lips that are naturally thin or small, while others notice that their lips are gradually thinning out as they age. While this process is a natural result of aging, it can be accelerated by behaviors like smoking cigarettes.

If you think your lips are thinner than normal, or thinner than you would like, lip augmentation may be a good procedure for you. If your lips have thinned out over time and lost their shape, you may want to consider lip augmentation.

Areas of the lips that can be treated include the:

  • Upper lip
  • Lower lip
  • Cupid’s bow
  • Mouth corners

Lip augmentation is typically performed using some type of injectable wrinkle filler. Materials such as hyaluronic acid, collagen or fat can be used. During lip augmentation, the injectable filler or implant is carefully placed in areas that require volume enhancement. Your surgeon uses a technique that preserves the natural appearance of the lips while enhancing their size and shape. After injection, some brief massaging of the area may be necessary to achieve a smooth result.

Before Lip Augmentation

Before lip augmentation begins, Dr. Cho or Dr. Ciang may administer a medication to help control discomfort; this will usually involve a dental block or numbing cream anesthetic. The doctor may ask you about your medical history, and whether you’re prone to getting cold sores or skin eruptions around the lips.

Before and After Lip Augmentation

After Lip Augmentation

It is common after your lip augmentation to experience some swelling and soreness in the lips. They may feel fuller than expected immediately after treatment, but as the swelling subsides and you adjust to the results, you’ll be able to appreciate the outcome.
