Houston & Spring Eyelid Surgery & Brow Lift Surgery
Loose eyelid skin and lower eyelid creases can make you look tired and weary, but blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, can refresh and rejuvenate the appearance of your eyes. Both upper eyelid sagging and lower eyelid wrinkling and droopiness can be corrected with eyelid surgery, and under eye bags or puffiness can also be reduced.
Although eyelid surgery cannot correct sagging eyebrows, crow’s feet and dark circles, other procedures such as brow lift surgery, Botox and fat grafting can be used to address these problems, complementing your eyelid surgery results and further improving your new look.
Depending on your unique needs and concerns, Dr. Cho will recommend an upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty or a combination of both to enhance your eyes. As the name of each eyelid surgery procedure suggests, eyelid surgery can be customized to correct problems with only the upper or lower eyelids, unless complete eyelid rejuvenation is needed.
During the procedure, hidden incisions will be made along the upper eyelid crease and/or inside the lower eyelid. Skin, muscle and fat are repositioned, and excess tissues are removed to tighten and lift the eye area. General or sedation anesthesia may be used during eyelid surgery, and the procedure typically takes 1 to 3 hours.

Before The Surgery
Because the eyes are so delicate, it is important to consult your ophthalmologist and determine if you have any eye conditions that could make blepharoplasty unsafe for you. Once your ophthalmologist has performed necessary tests and cleared you for surgery, Dr. Cho will also evaluate your health and medical history.
You will be given pre- and post-operative instruction that directs you on how to prepare for eyelid surgery and care for yourself following the procedure. It is important to follow these instructions closely and contact Dr. Cho if you have any questions or concerns. Note that avoiding tobacco products and alcohol and discontinuing blood-thinning medications are critical in the days and weeks before your blepharoplasty.
After The Surgery
The initial recovery period following eyelid surgery is usually about 7 to 10 days, and patients must refrain from wearing contact lenses for at least 2 to 3 weeks. Activity restrictions will also be in place for the first few weeks, during which time pain, bruising and swelling will gradually resolve.
Using cold compresses, keeping your head elevated and regularly attending follow-up visits so Dr. Cho can check on your healing progress will help you expedite your recovery and achieve the best possible eyelid surgery results. Complete blepharoplasty recovery takes a few months and as your final results are achieved, you will enjoy a more youthful and well-rested appearance.

Traditional and Endoscopic Brow Lift
A brow lift is performed to rejuvenate the upper facial area (the forehead and brows) by elevating the sagging brow tissues that are commonly seen at a certain point in the aging process.
Dr. Young Cho offers several techniques in brow lift surgery including the minimally invasiveendoscopic brow lift.
About Brow Lift Surgery
The goals of a brow lift are individualized for each patient, but typically include the following:
- Elevate the brow tissues
- Restore youthful eyebrow arch
- Open up the eye area
- Reduce appearance of forehead lines
- Reduce appearance of loose eyelid skin
If you exhibit any of the above-mentioned conditions, you may want to consider a brow lift with Dr. Cho. If you’re considering a brow lift, Dr. Cho can evaluate your face (during a personal consultation) to determine if the procedure can satisfy your needs.
To rejuvenate the brow and forehead, Dr. Cho will make incisions behind the hairline, which vary in number and size depending on the technique. The skin and tissue of the forehead is gently lifted, creating a smoother forehead appearance and reducing the appearance of lines or forehead furrows. Dr. Cho then uses a special technique to fixate the brow in its newly elevated position. With clips or sutures, the incisions are closed.
Before Your Brow Lift
Before a brow lift, your plastic surgeon will explain the details of the procedure so you understand the risks, benefits, expected downtime and other details before proceeding. You will be given specific pre-operative instructions regarding medications and how to prepare for the surgery.
Immediately before your brow lift, your face and other areas are thoroughly cleansed, your hair is tied back and the anesthesia is administered (local or general anesthesia may be recommended for a brow lift).
An endoscopic brow lift requires 4 or 5 small incisions behind the hairline. The doctor uses a special viewing instrument to see the tissue as he elevates the brow, reducing wrinkles and furrows on the patient’s forehead.
After the Brow Lift
After your brow lift, the doctor will apply a soft dressing to the surgical site and provide you with instructions on how to handle post-operative care. Within a few days, you will be able to shower and shampoo. Patients can typically return to a normal routine after about one week, but your recovery time may vary.
It’s important to follow your provided post-operative instructions from Dr. Cho. These may include steps on:
- Using pain medications
- When to return for follow-up appointments
- Applying makeup or concealer
- Avoiding sun exposure
- Limiting rigorous activities
It is common for brow lift patients to experience some numbness, swelling, nausea and incision discomfort during recovery. Complications can also arise, which Dr. Cho can explain in detail before your surgery.
